Do not be afraid – for I am with you! I am your God – let nothing terrify you! I will make you strong and help you: l will protect you and safe you “- Isaiah 41:10
Where is God? Everywhere. Yes, we serve an omnipresent Creator that is present everywhere at the same time. God is not just near but He’s right here, where you and I stand, in times of good and bad. Though it may be easier to look to our Maker when we’re pleasing Him, our eyes must remain on Him even when we sin. Shame and guilt are consequences of sin that can feel like a wedge between us and our Father. But that doesn’t mean that we should continue to widen the distance. We should run towards God not away from him like a game of Hide and Seek. That’s what Adam and Eve tried doing.
Sin made Adam afraid of God’s presence and afraid of God’s voice. Ever since Adam, men run from God’s presence, struggling to heed His Word. As God’s children, part of receiving our Father’s unconditional love is receiving His forgiveness that comes from confessing our sins. We all sin, but when we sin, we can still give glory to God by openly confessing without shifting the blame onto others. The darkness makes everything disappear but it makes nothing go away. What is done in the dark will come to light. “Nothing good comes from hiding in the shadows” ― David A. Broughton. Therefore, my brothers and sisters, “My son, tell the truth here before the Lord, the God of Israel, and confess. Tell me now what you have done. Don’t try to hide it from me” – Joshua 7:19.
We need to let Jesus cover us not our false identities. It does no good to run. And it does no good to hide. But I know what it’s like. In a world where everyone hides themselves, the little rabbit hole seems safe but in reality it provides a false sense of security. Instead be secured in Christ. “For the Lord is your security, he will keep your foot from being caught in a trap” – Proverbs 3:26. Running to the Lord is no different from a scared toddler running to their parents. So run to God when you’re happy, sad, full of energy, or when you need anything at all. Please don’t run away from God, run to Him! He is always there! God does not guide those who want to run their own life. He only guides those who admit their need of His direction and rely on His wisdom. — Winkie Pratney
Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are tired from carrying heavy loads, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke and put it on you, and learn from me, because I am gentle and humble in spirit and you will find rest For the yoke l will give you is easy and the load l will put on you is light. -– Matthew 11:28-30.
