The word obedience generally means submitting to someone higher in authority than you. Nonetheless, obedience to God is a fundamental principle in the life of every believer. It reflects our faith, trust, and love for Him. When we choose to obey God’s commands, we align ourselves with His divine purpose and receive His blessings. However, obedience to God’s command is a fundamental principle in many religious traditions, especially in Christianity. It signifies a believer’s commitment to following God’s will, as revealed through scripture, prayer, and faith. Besides, faith and obedience work together in carrying out God’s wishes and command. Take for example what happened at Gennesareth, where miracles took place and so much grace was poured out by the Son of God. Remember the miracle of the catching of fishes, it is a popular on in the bible where Jesus asked Peter to put out his nets into the deep water after using Peter’s boat as a pulpit to preach to the crowd. We read that Peter told Jesus that his colleagues and him worked all through the night and caught nothing and so did not think it was necessary for him to cast the net again into the deep water.  Nevertheless, considering what he heard and saw during the preaching, Peter and his colleagues obeyed Jesus purely out of faith and trust in the Master and  lowered the nets and, they caught plenty of fishes that they were unable to pull the net full of fishes out of the water so, they had to call out on  their partners on another boat to help them pull up the net, full of fishes ( 153 in number).  This miracle was achieved because Simon Peter simply obeyed and trusted our Lord.

It is obvious that without obedience, everything is useless in God’s eyes and also the scripture, says that obedience brings blessings and demonstrates love for God. In fact, there is no better way to show true love for God than through obedience to His word.  Deuteronomy 28: 1-2 says, ‘’ If you obey the Lord and faithfully keep all his commands that l am giving you today, he will make you greater than any other nation on earth. Obey the Lord your God and all these blessings will be yours’’. Furthermore, when we obey God, we receive peace, divine favor, and eternal rewards.

In conclusion, Obedience to God is a mark of true discipleship and brings both spiritual and physical blessings. Though obedience may sometimes be challenging, God rewards those who follow His commands with peace, joy, and eternal life. Obedience to God’s command is also an essential part of a faithful and righteous life no wonder, the Bible repeatedly emphasizes the importance of following God’s instructions, so that we can experience His blessings, protection, and share a deeper relationship with Him. As the popular quotation from Matthew 7: 21 says, – “Not everyone who calls me ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only those who do what my Father in heaven wants them to do’’.

Beautiful article. The proper attitude in the presence of the saving God is obedience and acquiescence, imitating his moves, responding to his commands, doing whatever he tells us.
To live the good life is not finally a matter of autonomy but of obeying commandments. ” If you keep my commandments, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commandments and remain in his love.”
