What is Relationship: Longman dictionary tells us that it is the way two people or two groups behave to each other.

Your relationships with your colleagues are important. Good workplace relationships can help you do your job better. They can make going to work every day enjoyable. Bad relationships with colleagues can distract you and can turn a job into a nightmare. These resources will help you have good relationships with your colleagues.

Respect Your Colleagues at workplace.

How You Can Best Demonstrate Respect in the Workplace

The most important thing in a workplace environment is Respect. This is the foundation of all good relationships, including those you have with your colleagues. So, it is very important that you respect your colleagues at work, as we all know the saying that, “respect is reciprocal. Avoid offending those with whom you work. Though, there may be prickly co-worker occasionally who is easily offended, just do your own bit, respect each other.

Respect is earned and not commanded thus, to win anyone’s respect, you have to show respect first to others. Always show gratitude and appreciate your colleagues whenever they do things that appeal to you or that help the team to succeed.

Some other elements that can help us Manage workplace Relationships are: –

Trust and Honesty. Trust your colleagues and be honest with them. As a manager or employer these two components are important in manager-employee relationships and also between peers. Trust and honesty go hand-in-hand in any relationship, including those in the workplace. Regardless of whether you run the company or work as an intern, the workplace will be unhealthy if you don’t trust those with whom you work and aren’t honest with them.

Build a good relationship with your colleagues

It is usually easy to hang out with the people who fit in with you socially, but it’s also worth the effort to get to know others as well. Your colleagues will appreciate your attempts to be friendly, especially those outside your normal niche. Their opinion, no matter how junior they are now, could have a bearing on your career.

Communication: Without effective communication, numerous problems can arise in a workplace. Managers must clearly communicate the company’s vision and strategies to employees and employees must communicate any issues or difficulties in implementing measures to achieve the business’s vision.

Project positive personality: –

Cultivating an awesome relationship with your workplace colleagues brings about great benefits. It boosts productivity, increases work output, strengthens team work and ultimately fast tracks your career progression

People beaming with positive personality are approachable and easy to get around with. Smile and greet your colleagues when you chance upon them at the elevator, cafeteria, corridor and car park.

Appear well to office. You do not necessarily have to be good looking but it is important to look good. When you sit, walk and talk, project confidence. If you have a good humor sense, crack some jokes that can lighten up the day.

When you are filled with a positive energy, people will surely enjoy your presence. You ignite enthusiasm and happiness, which will lead to increase in work productivity.

Equality: – See every member of staff as equals this will help a workplace to function effectively, equality must be a cornerstone of the company’s principles. Equality in a workplace takes several forms; employers and employees alike must-see people as equals despite their age or gender.  You must not discriminate.

Conflict Resolution: – Just that you know, conflicts of all sizes will occur in workplaces regardless of how effectively they’re run, but what separates a successful business from one that is unsuccessful is how the management team deals with the conflict. If you like, you can set up a conflict resolution committee to take care of that when you need to.

 Conclusion

Maintaining a good relationship with your boss and co-workers is very important. This can make for a healthy career. Although this is not always easy, in fact it can be very difficult at times but let us just TRY.

Thank You
